Team plan: Starting at $10 per builder/month, billed annually

Team is Retool’s first paid plan for growing internal-tool teams. It costs $10 per builder and $5 per internal user each month when billed annually. Monthly billing increases those rates to $12 per builder and $7 per internal user.

This pricing model works well when a small group builds apps for a larger team. The cost can rise, however, when employees who normally use finished apps begin editing them and are counted as builders for that billing cycle.

Pros:

• Lower internal-user pricing helps when only a few people need to build apps.
• Staging resources let you test changes before connecting them to production.
• App releases make it easier to publish updates and return to earlier versions.

Cons:

• Audit logs and rich permission controls aren’t included.
• External customer and partner apps require Business or Enterprise.
• Team still limits reusable modules to five.
• Users with editing access can become builders and increase the monthly bill.

Business plan: Starting at $50 per builder/month, billed annually

Business costs $50 per builder and $15 per internal user each month with annual billing. Monthly prices rise to $65 per builder and $18 per internal user.

The jump from Team is substantial, but this is where Retool adds the governance, branding, and external-app features many production teams need.

Cons:

• The annual builder rate is five times the Team builder price.
• Custom SSO and Git-compatible source control still require Enterprise.
• External users, workflow overages, AI packs, and Agent runtime can raise the final cost.

Cloud Business includes the first 50 external users at no additional cost. With annual billing, users 51–250 cost $8 each per month, users 251–500 cost $6 each, and users above 500 cost $4 each. Monthly Business rates for those tiers are $10, $7, and $5. Retool applies these prices progressively rather than charging every external user at the highest tier reached.

Enterprise plan: Custom pricing

Enterprise is designed for larger organizations with stricter security, deployment, governance, and support requirements. Retool doesn’t publish a fixed price, so you’ll need to speak with its sales team for a quote.

Enterprise is also the plan you’ll need if you want to run the current version of Retool in your own cloud environment or private infrastructure rather than using Retool Cloud.

Pros:

• Source control supports branch-based development and structured code reviews.
• Independent workspaces separate teams, apps, integrations, permissions, and resources.
• SSO makes it easier to manage employee access through an existing identity provider.
• Volume discounts may make large deployments more cost-effective.

Cons:

• You need sales calls, contract negotiations, and procurement reviews.
• Pricing is difficult to compare before receiving a custom quote.
• Smaller teams may need Enterprise because of one security requirement, even when they don’t need the rest of the plan.

Retool is currently offering customers who sign an Enterprise contract by September 30, 2026, AI credits worth up to $10,000 per year of the contract term.

How user pricing works in Retool

Retool calculates builder and internal-user quantities during each billing cycle based on what enabled users do inside the platform.

Here are a few examples:

• Opening and using a finished dashboard: internal user
• Submitting information through an internal form: internal user
• Editing a table, form, or app layout: builder
• Creating or editing a workflow: builder

A user with editing permission isn’t automatically charged as a builder if they don’t edit anything during the billing period. Once that person builds or edits an app or workflow, Retool charges the builder rate for that cycle.

Business organizations can use permission groups to block selected employees from editing. This helps prevent people who only need to use apps from accidentally becoming builders.

How to add more Retool usage

Team and Business both include 5,000 successful workflow runs per month. You can add another 5,000 monthly runs for $75 if your automations exceed that allowance.

Paid Team and Business customers can also purchase 1,000 additional AI credits for $100. AI credits are shared across the organization rather than assigned to each builder.

Agents use separate hourly pricing and don’t consume your AI credit balance. Every plan includes up to 20 hours per month, while the price of additional runtime depends on the AI model being used.

What happens to unused AI credits?

The AI credits included with your plan renew each month and don’t roll over. Retool combines them into one shared organization-level pool covering AI-assisted app building and AI actions.

Purchased credit packs remain available until the end of the following billing cycle. Any purchased credits left after that point expire.

The extra bonus credits currently included with Team, Business, and Enterprise are promotional. Retool says these bonuses may change over time, so it’s safer to base long-term budgeting on the standard credit allocation rather than assuming the bonus will always remain.

Which Retool plan should you choose?

Choose Free if you:

• Want to test Retool without paying
• Have five or fewer enabled users
• Are building a prototype or small internal tool
• Don’t need detailed permissions or audit logs

Choose Team if you:

• Have more than five users

Is Retool worth the cost?

Retool’s Free and Team plans are enough to test the platform and build useful internal apps. Team is the practical starting point for growing teams because it removes the five-user limit and adds staging resources, app releases, and 5,000 monthly workflow runs.
